The Medical Education Unit (formerly known as Medical Education Cell) is in existence since the inception of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences from 2002. The mandates of the SMIMS MEU are well articulated with the requirements prescribed by Medical Council of India. The SMIMS MEU aims at promoting excellence and innovation in health professions education practice. It also provides an ideal opportunity for the faculty members of health professional courses to foster their skills in teaching and evaluation methods through ongoing faculty development programs and academic research projects. Thus the faculty members are provided with professionalism in academic practice that would impact on the learning experiences of the students and mold them as best health practitioners.
